Power of music - Aashiqui 2

I am a kind of a person who likes movies with heavy beat songs, high voltage fights and powerful dialogues but after a long time I was deceived by this movie which completely impressed me and influenced me by its slow pace and scintillating music and that movie was Aashiqui2. Congratulations to the director and makers of the movie. I just feel like saying, "Main aashique tho nahin.... magar aashiqui2... jabse dekha maine tujko mujko aashiqui hogayee".

The movie was completely against my taste and I had even decided that I would not be going for the movie. But my trainer in the gym gave a superb review about the movie and its music. He marketed the movie for me and I was sold for it. Finally, I made up my mind to watch the movie and I was just bowled out. The young actors with their innocent acting and the gripping background score sandwiched with situational songs completely drove me into the film. I had no clue as to what the time was and how much time had gone by as I was watching the movie. Probably the story wasn't that great in terms of twists and suspense or surprises but there was one element of the story that carried the entire film on its shoulders and that was LOVE. Love means to care for each other irrespective of every other constraint. This feeling was perfectly showcased by both Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor towards each other.

Last but not the least, I need to talk about the music of the movie. The first song itself was damn amazing. The same song gets repeated in the female voice after sometime and Shreya Goshal has done a great job adding every bit of emotion to the song. When the hero says to the heroine that she had sung his own song far better than him in the movie, I didn't believe it but after I downloaded and started listening to the songs, every time I listened to that song there were tears in my eyes. This was one of the few times in my life that I was moved by a song for the feel it was sung in. All credits to the music director and the singers. I would definitely recommend everyone to watch this movie without any expectations but only to feel the power of music and the power of love but one cautionary statement from my side. Please go along with your spouse or would-be or lover else you will have an embarrassing time like me if you go single only to find couples around you completely involved in the movie. Do pass on your reviews about the movie on is.mohanbn@gmail.com

Experience to empathize

In one of my previous blogs I had spoken about empathy. Empathy is a very important quality that one should have to understand others emotions and feelings. You can check more about its importance in the following link http://mohanbn.blogspot.in/2012/12/empathy-art-to-learn.html. However here I would like to touch upon the topic about how to develop the power of empathising with people.

Experience shall form the core of empathy. Unless you have experienced the situation what the other person is narrating, you can never empathize with the other person. In fact no two people shall undergo exactly the same process. So complete empathy can ever be achieved at all. But it is definitely true that all of us undergo similar situations in life if not the same exactly where in the emotions and feelings felt by us would match at least if not the situation. This is the required experience of emotions and feelings that can help us develop empathising power. Unless you haven't even experienced the emotions same as the other person in a similar situation, it shall be highly difficult for you to empatize with the other person's situation.

Empathy is an art to learn if you want to network with large number of people and work towards grand success. Then it becomes essential for you to get into someone else's shoes day in and day out to empathize with the other person. Hence it's important for you to explore various experiences so that you can instantly remove your shoes and slip into another person's shoes the moment s/he is narrating their story to you so that you can empathise in the best possible manner. I really empathize with the difficulty of writing a feedback with my reader as I have also been asked for feedback by many other authors. Still, I would invite my dear reader to post a comment about the blog on is.mohanbn@gmail.com

The convincer's power

I have heard it many a times that there's your way, my way and the right way. You tend to hear such statements whenever there are arguments. Coming to arguments which flow to a proper logical end without either of the parties escaping, you can always notice that there is one side which has a strong convincer who has an answer for every argument of the opposition. This convincer has the ability to reverse the debate if he is made to team up with the oppostion side. This is the power of the convincer.
No matter how much ever logical reasoning exists, still it's the ability of the convincer that decides the detination of the debate. No matter whichever side the convincer is shifted to the debate tilts towards that end. In this diverse world with different cultures and different people, nothing is right while nothing is wrong. Some things are right according to some people while the same things are wrong according to some other set of people. No one really knows the real depth of good or bad. So as long as the powerful convincer is able to convince others to follow his path, they shall follow. Whoever has developed the courage, ability and urge to convince others to agree to his viewpoints always wins the debate just by the mere confidence more number of times than the rational reasoning.

This world needs a person who can rule over it. People are confused as to what is right and what is wrong. They need a leader who shall show them the right path but not all shall express this inner feeling of their's. So it's left upto each one of you to decide whether to take hold of the reigns of this world and drive it in the best direction or not. Really looking forward for your reviews on is.mohanbn@gmail.com

You gather to give

In one of the recent blogs I had written that man gains knowledge only to teach it to others. I had decided that I would be writing a blog on the same topic. Later when I sat down to think about this concept it suddenly seemed to mean far more than what it actually meant when I wrote it a few days back. Hence I shall put down all my thoughts about this concept in this blog. We come to this earth empty-handed and shall return empty-handed too. So what happens to all that we gather in this so called  'LIFE'?

The people who do the most amount of research and read a lot of books and excel academically are generally teachers, lecturers, professors, philosophers and scientists. These are the people who share all that they have gathered throughout their life with their students either directly through classroom teaching or indirectly by writing thesis, textbooks, research papers, reference books or by recording videos and tapes. They amass all the knowledge possible only to share it back. Businessmen and the other working lot work hard to earn a lot of money. They gather all this wealth only to give it to their employees, families and further generations. Many big companies also share the amassed wealth with the poor, under-privileged and needy through corporate social responsibility projects. Politicians and people in high leadership positions work hard to earn these positions of power only to pass them on to their disciples who have followed their leadership all this time. Be it power or knowledge or money, each one is gathered only to be given back.

The world functions in such a wonderful cyclic fashion. Man thinks that he is the greatest with the knowledge/wealth/power that he holds in his hand currently. Seldom does he realise in this peak period of pride and prestige that the wheel of time continuously is ticking spoke by spoke. At the right time all that he holds shall get transferred to another set of hands and all that remains is shallow. You can write to me on is.mohanbn@gmail.com

Humanity has no religion

How would it be if there was no religion or caste or creed in this world? If there was one religion called as humanity for all of us which taught that every human being in this world was related to all 700 crore plus population, it would really result in 'vasudhaiya kutumbam' which preaches that the entire world is one family. To feel the happiness or sadness of a fellow human being you don't have to be from the same religion or be his/her relative but only need to be a human at heart was a strong lesson that got reinforced in me during one of the incidents yesterday while travelling in the bus.

Last evening, I was travelling in a bus from my office to a meeting. I found that there was a mother along with her child who was just 1 or 1 and half year old. The child started to cry and the mother was unable to console it for sometime. There was one more lady who came and sat in the front seat of the mother. This lady had a mobile in her hand. The child was trying to take the mobile but the mother was holding it back. The lady in front obviously could not give the mobile to the child to stop it from crying but she could give atleast a smile. She could have atleast tried to talk to the child assisting the mother to stop it from crying but the lady didn't do any of these. She was just straight-faced without any smile and I don't think that even she looked at the child. The child continued to cry in the hands of the helpless mother.

After a couple of bus-stops, one more lady got into the bus and took the seat right in front of the child. From my general observation, I could make out that the straight-faced lady and mother-child duo belonged to the same religion but the new lady who entered the scene was completely from another religion but I observed that as soon as this lady saw the crying child, she started to smile at it and gave the bus-ticket in her hand to the child to play. Immediately the child stopped crying. She was trying to make the kid smile by smiling at and playing with it. This incident clearly showed that religion failed to bind people together as it is supposed to do but humanity at heart as a quality solved problems and could make a crying baby smile. Such is the power of humanity.

Let's follow and worship one common religion and let it be "HUMANITY".Please share your feedback on is.mohanbn@gmail.com

Whom To Blame?

Accidents are common incidents in today's busy and urgent lifestyle scenarios. Sometimes its hard to distinguish between accidents and coincidents also. Whenever good happens there is seldom a search for the reason for that goodness that happened. In fact there is a wide claim that spreads among all present in the situation to be responsible in their own ways for the good that happened. But when something turns out to be bad, fingers start raising and pointing in all directions apart from the reverse direction. So whom to blame in such circumstances?

I am very sure that you would have witnessed many scenarios where in two individuals end up in a conflict either by oversight or sheer negligence from both the ends. If you are a viewer in any of such cases your logical mind can easily contemplate as to how the conflict could have been avoided with just few small precautions from either of the sides and the complete problem would have been in void. In most of such cases you would have seen that both the parties in conflict would be blaming one another until their energy and the angry emotions lose strength. Probably there are very few instances where either of the parties or both understand the entropy of the accident and smile away back. If at all there is a hurt caused on any one of them, more focus would be diverted to heal the hurt than to fight over it as to who was the real reason for it when sane minds are involved.

The above paragraph was just a simple common everyday example. If you can view at a global level you can see that the same scenario exists everywhere. People with power blame that others don't listen to them while the others feel that people with power aren't using it properly. Both are just blaming each other. The only solution to avoid this blaming game is by cooperation between both the parties to achieve the defined objectives. Remember friends! blame is not a game it's a shame.

Listen to what you talk

Thanks to the Almighty who has blessed humans with wonderful sense organs and also has given the right usage to each one of them. Even animals have tongue but they can't use it to talk like us. Barring a few exceptions of people with special abilities most of us are lucky enough to have this wonderful ability to talk and communicate with ourselves and with others. We keep talking the whole day with our family, relatives, friends, colleagues and sometimes strangers as well. Sometimes we chatter even while sleeping and indeed its fun to watch those who do this. There is a famous saying that our thoughts become our words and our words become our actions. Probably its too difficult to control our thoughts but my question is can we control what we talk?

We chat about innumerable topics and gossips, we talk about cinema, politics, religions, opinions, sports and trillion of other topics. Most of the times our thoughts just get converted into words and flow out of our mouth. There is no check in between whether what we are talking is going to make some sense or not. Also our ears are not placed in front of our mouth, they are placed on either sides of it far from it. Seldom our ears actually listen to what we say. They are more inclined towards listening to what the others have to say. Even physically its tough to bring your ears near your mouth. I was just thinking, had it been the case somehow that our ears would have been the first to listen to whatever we spoke then this world would have been rid of half of the talk pollution that exists now. The ability to talk is called in Sanskrit as 'Waakchhakthi'. I probably couldn't write in sanskrit here. 'Waak' means to talk, 'shakthi' means power, both combine to give the word 'Waakchhakthi' which means the Power to Talk. In the autobiography of Mahatma Gandhiji, he explains how he used this power of talking so well that his silence and his words were both equally powerful enough to help him become powerful to lead huge masses. Even Rajnikanth explains that when you're silent, people wait to listen to you talking and when you talk they give their full concentration. Also the weightage to the words of a guy who speaks less is more than that for others who keep blabbering always. Use your power to talk wisely.

Feedback loop is one of the best ways to drive ourselves towards perfection. I suggest you to listen to what you talk. Pay complete attention to what you're saying, record it and play it again in your mind and try if you can find a better way of saying the same. This will not only improve your efficiency but will also fill the necessary power into your words. When you analyse what you want to speak, you will definitely convey more in less words. This will strengthen your mental ability as well. Silence has power, control yourself from blabbering unnecessary speeches because people characterize you by the way you speak. Don't allow yourself to become a chatterox, listen to yourself- what you talk to others and what you talk to yourself in your mind. Filter off the junk and produce the required right combination. Lets utilize Waakchhakthi - the power to talk in the best way possible.

Action first Power next

I have to really appreciate today for the amazing meeting that I had with the young entrepreneurial minds of bangalore. Congratulations to everyone reading this blog because you're going to witness an event right here in bangalore in next few months which will be a life transforming one. You can contact me later to get the further information about this fabulous event but today I would like to share my head-fake learning from this meeting with my friends. 'Head-fake' is a concept wherein you learn something while you're actually doing something else. Thanks to Carnegie Mellon professor Randy Pausch who taught this through his book 'The Last Lecture'. Please do watch his video on youtube titled as 'The Last lecture' which has the best lessons for life. I thank him from the bottom of my heart for awakening many people in the world to work for their dreams.

Coming to my head-fake learning, it was one which was in the form of random pieces of a zigzaw puzzle in my head from a long time but today it took the right shape to solve the puzzle and teach me one of the profound lessons of life. Let me ask a question - "If you were given a chance to be either a CEO or an employee of a company, what would you choose to be?" I am damn sure that in most cases the answer would be "CEO!" because there lies power in the title and also very good remuneration as well. Might be such questions come only in a blog not in real life because when you have the talent in you and you have proven it to yield results there are no questions but only pleasant orders. Let me make it more clear. If Sachin hadn't played the best cricket during his childhood days neither would his father allow him to drop education and continue his sport nor the selection committee would take him to the national team. If Bill Gates had no idea about DOS before he met the IBM guys his Microsoft wouldn't have been the biggest software giant today. These examples can continue forever because whenever man showed his preparation to the world, it threw back opportunities at him.

You would have seen many people around you telling that "I can do that, I can do this" when they wouldn't have actually done any of them till then. Infact why should I spare myself from this blame? Even I have made statements like this very often only to realise that I couldn't standby my words. It was a very tough truth to accept but had to because that's how life teaches us lessons. Everyone of us are submerged under the layer of ego underwhich we claim to do anything if given a chance. Folks! come out of your school. It happened only in school where you were sent to sing though you didn't know to. In the real world big responsibilities aren't entrusted upon you just because you like it. Its more a question of deserving. The world grants you chances only when you have proven to the world in the past that you have been experienced enough to carry out the task else you will still be talking about what all you can do but never do them because you are waiting for someone else to grant you power to execute them. Write down every task that you want to do or like to do or love to do. Plan how to execute them with the best resources you have. Go all out and do them irrespective of the fear of failure or the negative criticism of the people. Only then you gain expertise at doing them. This is going to add to your portfolio on what you're capable to do and then the world recognises it to give you more power to execute a lot more of them. That's why I named the blog "Action first Power next".

Please come out of the dream world where you can even fight world wars barehanded. The world vests interest and power in the hands of those who can use them for better results not with those who just talk what they can do than actually walking their talk. Do let me know what are the significant activities that you have taken up in your life. May be we have an opportunity for you because when preparation meets opportunity there is SUCCESS.

Power of Decision making

Every moment of our life we are in a continuous process of making decisions. If you are reading this line then definitely you have just now made a decision to read this blog. Infact whether to breathe or not is strictly under your control. Apart from those actions which happen as a result of response to stimulus every other thing you see, speak, act is governed by your own sole decision. You can even go to an extent of concluding that your life is designed mainly by your decisions.

Either consciously or subconsciously our brain has the power to take decisions and act according to them almost everytime. Inspite of this I have come across a lot of people who feel that they lack decision making capability. This is a big misconception that people carry on their mind because they have decided that about themselves. No doubt that their decision rules their life. Except for those offsprings of God who are mentally challenged everyone of us can choose to decide on every aspect of our life. Then why do we sometimes fail making the right decisions? Because at those tough times we don't stop taking decisions, we decide to not decide our next step and instead decide to follow the flow of circumstances. When we don't decide our actions we have decided to make such a decision. At such moments just pause for sometime and tell yourself "DAMN IT! IT'S YOUR LIFE". Sometimes our heart goes so far from us that we are forced to shout at it to call it back.

We can be 100% sure that not every decision that we make is going to be right always. Even the best men/women of the world don't achieve this accomplishment because 'Human is to err'. So forget the fear of making wrong decisions. Be rational enough to take logical decisions. If the situations belong to the early life's syllabus then your decisions will definitely be right else your wisdom will decide the fate of your wishful decisions. Even if some of the decisions go wrong the immediate next step should be to take the right decision to compensate for the earlier wrong decision because ultimately the power to decide lies within you. The power to live your life lies in your powerful decisions.
