Only conviction drives the vision

Commitment to work and dedication of time and efforts are the most essential requirements to reach our goals in life. Goals can range from being unrealistic dreams to rational visions. It all depends upon the individual who holds these dreams and visions in his eyes. He has the ultimate power of converting thoughts into reality. Fortunately or unfortunately, man doesn't realize the strength of this power unless he uses it once and that one time implementation requires thorough conviction. Conviction alone can drive visions into reality.

Conviction is all about sitting and doing the task at hand irrespective of whether it is interesting or not. Conviction deals with more of completion of the activity rather than the liking or the disliking of it. Starting different kinds of work is easy because there is the assistance of the initial curiosity or the beginner's luck. Sustaining is the challenging part and taking the work to completion is the toughest challenge. However, the mere decision of making up the mind for something so massive, can only be the result of taking commitment. A commitment is always kept up to because of conviction and hardwork. No matter how much time or energy it takes , one must make up his mind without even getting such distractions.

There are different ways to raise back your conviction. Have a mentor who can spot the flaw points in you without any doubts or questions. Develop the habit of reading more books because they are the sources of knowledge and wisdom. The vision towards which you're driving must be more important than the intermediate results. Only then will the conviction be able to drive us far ahead in life to accomplish all that we dream of.

Get updated, else get outdated

Man has travelled a very huge time journey from being an ape to a homo-sapien. During this period of evolution he has treaded the path of Old Stone Age up to the modern e-age today. With every upcoming age, he had to update himself to the requirements of the new age. In fact, Charles Darwin himself says in one of his theories about evolution that 'it is not the strength of the species to survive that results in survival but it's the flexibility of the species to adapt to the new conditions'. Hence, I salute to the mankind for having survived so long. But, are we applying the same upgradation process in our lives?

Today, if we don't update our knowledge and wisdom and upgrade ourselves, we might still survive as human beings but we might be just considered as the outdated individuals among our tribe. A very simple example to state here is about our computers only. Earlier we used to use floppy discs to store data but today there are no floppy drives at all in any desktops or laptops. So we have to be updated to know the usage of CDs, pen drives, dropbox, googledrive, skydrive, cloud computing etc for transfer of digital information. I still regret that I had bought a box set of floppy drives when I bought my PC around 6.5 years back. Everytime I see those unused floppy discs in my drawer I just feel how ignorant was I about the developments in the field of computers during my engineering studies. We need to be aware about the changes that are happening around us. I definitely agree that it's totally difficult to keep a track of all the developments but it's surely not impossible to keep ourselves updated about the new stuff that's getting innovated and discovered in the field that we are involved in. Else, there is no hope of being in pace with the competition or even running in the race of life for a satisfying livelihood.

Life has been blessed upon humans with all the necessary accessories fit in the human body only to learn more and do more. Being the best gifted species on this planet we need to do our bit towards the creation we are a part of. We owe a lot to the world around us. The best way we can honour our civilizations and the work of all our ancestors is by making sure that we grow what they gave to us by an inch or as much as we can and hand it over to the future generation before we leave this earth. If this duty has to be fulfilled we need to make sure that we are aware of what's happening around us so that we can improvise on them else we shall remain as the outlaws not from the society we are a part of but from the community of hardworking individuals who are striving to make this world a better place to live in. All of your comments are most welcome!

If you were your idol

I believe that each one of us have someone or the other as our idol either consciously or subconsciously. I hope my belief is true as well. I am also sure that we would dream to reach the heights what our idols have reached and achieve the wisdom that they possess. But we cannot get to know the day to day activities of our idols and the way they handle them. So how do we become a replica of our idols which we envision to be?

This was one of the practical experiences that I had very recently based on which I am sharing the idea with my dear readers in this blog of mine. Just few days back I was engaged in a work for just 5 minutes of taking few photos. I captured them on my S3 and a thought came in mind to ask for a review but left assuming I have done the job right. Within 2 minutes I got to know that I was supposed to take another photo as well. So I had to redo the work. The very same day I had to get the same photos printed but unfortunately my pen drive was infected with virus when I reached the shop. I had to travel back once again home to mail the photos to be printed. Once again there was a redo of work. I was totally frustrated with the day and couldn't get back my enthusiasm at all and that is when I thought about what would my idol do in a similar situation.

My idol would have definitely spared a minute to get a review on photos before leaving the place. My idol would have had a plan B for getting the print outs by sending out a mail as well along with the pen drive. Even if these two weren't done my idol would have accepted the human instinct to error and would definitely complete the work like I did and be happy that the necessary lessons were learnt. So just think as to what your idol would have done in the same difficult situation as you are in and you will automatically be able to handle any kind of challenges. So, if your idol was reading this blog what feedback would s/he give on is.mohanbn@gmail.com

People and Planes

Have you ever noticed a conversation between a senior citizen and a young kindergarten child? On one side there is one who is just born to witness the new world and on the other side is the one who has seen probably most of the world by age. Still the communication happens at the plane where both of them are common and that is at the level of the kid. Have you got a chance to be a part of discussions among employees and among employers separately. If you have had such a chance you would have clearly understood the plane at which discussions are held at these two levels. I am just trying to give you a glimpse of what are the different planes of thoughts that the same human being can be a part of. The same senior citizen about whom I talked about in the beginning might be even included in the discussions among employees and employers but the plane of thoughts would be entirely different in each of the three cases.

I am not talking about the different types of communication that happens with different set of people here. I am trying to focus on the psychology that sets the thought process in our mind to run at different altitudes based on our experience and the exposure we are exposed to. People who have read a lot of books, who have interacted with lots of people and who have travelled around lots of places as prescribed by Swami Vivekananda generally tend to have a vast experience in their pocket. The prime reason for them to have put in extra efforts in reading, interacting and travelling a lot is that they want to reach the depth of understanding of every possible thing. These are the kind of people who want to collect as much data as possible to analyse the existing facts so that they can plan well to construct better future for the society. If you observe such people they generally don't have time to gossip around and for non-reproductive work. Even just a 5-minute talk with them can make you understand the level at which they think. They wouldn't be worried about petty problems of paying monthly bills, ego clashes with neighbours or colleagues and so on which are the general daily issues of a common man. The most difficult and profound concepts of human behaviour and global happenings will be the general topics of discussion in such high plane thinking minds. I have tried to touch the extremes of planes of thoughts, talks, discussions between that of a common man and a visionary. I am sure you can guess the
different planes that exist between these two extremes in which we wander through with different people.

A final reminder that I would like to pass on is that whenever there is a difference in the planes of wisdom between two people there is always an argument rather than a fruitful discussion. Just make sure that if you ever get into such a scenario, if you are on the lower plane try to learn and understand from the wiser person whereas on the other hand if you are the wiser of the two try to clearly explain with examples and annotations to the other person and help him/her to rise his/her levels of perception without allowing your impatience or ego to come in between. Happy discussing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really wanted to write this blog after being on both sides during two different discussions. Feel free to share your feedback on is.mohanbn@gmail.com

Answers to my questions

Everyone of us have lot of questions about life and the world around us. We seldom dare to ask anyone these questions most of the times because we ourselves are not quite sure about our questions. All of us are flowing in the current set ages ago. Certain patterns, certain customs are just imposed upon us and we don't dare to question any. Also there are few subjects that we want to learn about but we aren't sure about whom to ask those questions. Even I was swimming in this ocean of questions and doubts about living and the way of living and am still conitnuing but in due process I was fortunate enough to have some really high-level discussions with highly wise people and was able to get few answers for my questions. As Robin Sharma says 'When the student is ready, the teacher appears', the same happened with me. I will be on one such fortunate trip again by tomorrow night where I'll be getting lot of confusions and questions cleared by my mentor but before that I would like to share with you some of the answers that satisfied my questions.

Q. Why is it necessary to have dreams to buy vehicles, ornaments and houses?
A. We can work only for a limited age. As we get old we won't have enough strength to work and earn income. So we need to build sources that can yield income in our old days. Renting a house can help us serving as a source of income in the later stages of life.

Q. What is a vision and who is a visionary?
A. A vision encompasses for masses. For example: there might be just one new coffee shop started by a person but if he is a visionary he will have a vision to have thousands of coffee shops all over the world. A visionary will always think and plan of expanding anything that has started so that it can serve large masses of people.

Q. What is spirituality and how can one become spiritual?
A. Spirituality is all about how much you can understand yourself. It's about how you can empathize with anyone around you. You would have reached the highest state of spirituality when you can enjoy in the joy of others and when you can feel the sadness to the same extent as that of the victim.

Q. Though people have big dreams in the beginning, why do they give up but do not persist on achieving them?
A. People want results quickly. They get disheartened when their expectations are not met with the real results after their initial efforts. They are not satisfied with the way dream comes into reality. They aren't ready to accept that they need to work for a long time to achieve big goals and when the result happens in a much smaller size they give up without continuing to build upon it to make it bigger.

Q. What is the level of purity of thoughts?
A. A pure thought can be as pure as a rain drop. Still the rain that rains through the impure polluted environment gets polluted and can result in acid rain causing lot of harm to the animalkind but just think about those rain drops that fall over a greenery or a forest or on top of the mountians. Its the purest form of water and that is the level of purity that should be associated with our thoughts.

I have represented very few discussions in the above scenarios. I still have lot of questions for which I am searching for answers. Even if you have questions like these please forward them to me. If I can answer them I will try my best to provide the best answer else I will make sure to find the answers to them. Life is all about exploring and sharing and we don't have lot of lifetime to learn everything ourselves. Hence take the help of mentors and wise people to learn the answers soon and to grow through life faster.
