Time for graduation

Education has become one of the most basic necessities for people to avail a job and lead a decent life. Without education, it's highly difficult to survive in today's highly competitive and highly cunning world. There is enough number of people around to take advantage of your unawareness and cheat you from getting what you really deserve. Hence education becomes very much important in all our lives, but the misconception is that education is nothing but graduation. Pursuing graduation and completing a degree course doesn't guarantee right education. Unfortunately, majority of the graduation pursuing students have fallen into the wrong assumption that it takes 3-4 years to complete graduation of one degree. We must evaluate the right time that is invested on graduation and not the time that is spent.

According to my experience of having addressed a lot of students pursuing different degrees, I have come to know that irrespective of what degree a student is in, s/he doesn't study everyday like how students do in school. The last night before the exam becomes the most important time for such students. There are few students who start studying a week before the exam also. Many students are not even interested in attending regular classes and due to lack of experienced and good teachers students seldom listen to teachers' lessons. In this case, it gets proved that students study on their own and that too, during the dead end when the exam is just one or two days far. If students can score and pass exams with last night preparations then all semesters of any graduation can be completed within few months and it is not required to spend years to complete graduation. The college also doesn't run for 24 hours a day. It only runs for 6-8 hours a day. Taking holidays and mass bunks into consideration, on an average, just 6 hours per day is spent on graduation by students, which means just one fourth of the day. Extrapolating to 4 years of B.E, only one year of complete time is invested into graduation by students. This gets stretched for 4 years by the existing education standards, wherein students have no idea that they are wasting three-fourth of their time during graduation in the name of graduation.

After 3-4 years, when you look back you will only be able to say that you did so many years of graduation though you knew that it could get over within one fourth of the time. So, it's high time for students to understand the responsibility of every day that is bestowed on them. One should make sure that s/he is involved in lot of other things in free time apart from graduation. Only then 3-4 years of graduation will also encompass experience in different kinds of work along with exposure to different fields of life along with graduation. Filling in your day with variety of activities instead of wasting time in the name of graduation will be the best way for any student pursuing graduation to follow.

The world around was still the same

Tough phases are bound to be a part of everyone's lives. Likewise are the good phases. You never know what phase is the person sitting right next to you in the bus is going through. You never know if her eyes were red because she was crying unable to let out her tears or was it the mistake of the kajal that made her eyes go red. You never know if he was sleepy or was it the pressure of disappointment that made the blood rush through the veins in those white eyes. Phases are a part of everyone's lives but none show them to the world around. When the phase is going on the person has no idea of what's happening around in the world. The moment one is out of it and comes into realization of the world around, what s/he sees is quite astonishing. The world around is running the same way like before completely deaf and blind to the kind of phase one has just gone through. This is the real truth of this world.

Different phases of life make us go through different feelings and emotions. Some can be expressed in front of others while some can't be. In fact, differentiating between happy or tough or learning phases is also very difficult and the distinction is solely decided and felt only by the individual going through the phases. People in the world around might have gone through the same phases but yet might be completely helpless to empathize with the person. As a result, the individual is left all alone to go through the phase and grow through it. None is spared from these tests of life. It's a lonely battle out there. Everyone is involved in such lonely battles in their own respective lives while none of such battles are exposed to each other. The moment we are out of our homes to face the world, we get back to our normal selves who seem to be carrying on with life just like how it was before. The lips widen to smile big and the speed catches the legs to not miss the bus to office. We become the same part of the world which seems completely unchanged for a person who has just got out of the toughest phase of his/her life. All of us do know it very clearly that humans are mortal. All of us might have born to different parents but the mankind is one single community. Animals or machines might be unable to understand about your phases but other human beings definitely can. Yet we don't share with the world what's happening in our lives. Reasons are many because, at the end of the day, all of us are just humans, neither animals nor machines.

The moment we are unable to get the expected responses from the world around, we start blaming the entire world and make generic statements that the world is cruel, bad and sad. All that you see in the world is what is occupying your mind at that current state of mind. When you're happy everything that's colourful and bright in the world catches your eyes. When you're hurt only resentment and discouraging statements fall into your ears. When you are completely clear without any expectations or anticipations coming out just after a tough phase the world reflects the same. It doesn't show any expectation out of you and is completely unaware of the kind of anticipations that you shall make out of it. I saw the same as I came out of one of the challenging phases of my life, the world around was still the same.

Know Understand Realise Practise

Talking about different lessons of leadership or success, I have met a lot of people ranging from kindergarten kids to sales heads, marketing managers, CEOs of many companies and heads of big organizations. People from all these strata of age, work and status know about the same old proverbs that have been ruling ages together. Nowadays students also have such 'Thoughts for the Day' at their fingertips as they need to present them in their morning assembly. When such a lesson is repeated many people don't pay much heed to it because they feel that they already know it. They even underestimate the value of a person who shares a common lesson because they feel that even s/he is sharing the same thing that they already know. Friends! Knowing and practising are entirely two different aspects amongst humans.

All of us know that an atom bomb explodes but not all of us understand how it does so. Not all of are aware about the chemical reactions that take place. Not all of us know how to make one such atom bomb. Likewise knowing a lesson is just like merely knowing the name of a person, but you don't know the complete person's personality. It takes conversation or sufficient research to understand little bit about the person. Likewise in-depth understanding of any lesson also requires quite a good amount of reading. More than understanding how true the lesson is, it's very important to realise how it can bring about changes in your life at present. There is no point in learning it if you are not using it. Nevertheless after understanding and realising how well your life can change if the lesson is implemented, you have to take that initiative to inculcate the lesson as a part of your daily life in every aspect. Only then can the lesson also yield the expected results. You can go and ask any successful person about their message to people. Their answer shall consist of just one lesson that they have strictly followed all through their lives, which has bestowed them with the fruits for all their investment of time, energy and efforts.

One of the most profound examples that I heard some time back was that no matter how old you grow, you shall always drink water to quench your thirst. You might have cool drinks, milk, tea, coffee, carbonated drinks or fruit juices also, but ultimately, all of them have water as their raw material during preparation. We drink the same old colourless, odourless and tasteless water to quench our thirst. So, the same old lessons can solve every problem of ours and help us achieve what we aim at. Let's learn those few powerful principles of life, understand their meaning with the highest depth (depth of understanding shall deepen with more of experience resulting from more of action taken), realise their importance in our lives and practise them on a regular basis to convert all our visions into reality.

What is your insight?

All of us live through several moments of our lives. How many of us learn from every moment of our life? A poet views the grandeur of a waterfall and exclaims, "What a beauty!” An engineer witnesses the same and cries out, "What a waste!" What we take out of every instance of our life and things and situations around us is completely left to us. This is what I call as insight.

If a person is willing to learn even an empty road can teach him the best lessons of life. It is completely up to our discretion as to what we decide to take out of any situation of our life. Most of the times we neglect so many occurrences in our life that we end up being completely clueless as to where we spent all our time and energy. The reason is because we wouldn't have taken out anything constructively out of them but when we decide to focus on triggering our insight towards every small thing that happens around us, we get a deeper understanding of stuff around us. A thought that dives into the depth of something that is very ordinary shall reveal the extraordinary lesson beneath the ordinary. No big things can be understood unless we have understood small things. To understand the tiny truths of life, we need to develop an insight that studies more about everything which seems to be normal for others. Only then will we be capable to opine on any particular topic aptly.

What we think about others is what we are. The more we exercise this talent of ours to understand things, people, experiences and situations around us, the more we start understanding ourselves. We become more capable to judge our anticipations and feelings. We start discovering ourselves afresh anew. Life is all about discovering the highest true form of oneself which unfortunately gets muddled in the noises of the world around as we grow up. Having an insight into everything helps us to get back our true-selves. Your insight on this post is more than welcome and more than valuable.

Expressionless expression - A silent smile

So coming back to the same old topic of expressions. Every emotion
or a feeling has an expression associated with it. Some are good at expressing while some are still learning the art of expressing. The world has become so blind that it can see only what seems to be the outer cover. It has lost the capacity of looking deep in the eyes. You smile and laugh and the world thinks you are happy. You have a sulky face and a sigh on your face, world seems to think that you are sad while the situations can be completely opposite of what that is perceived.

Many might even fight back at me saying that it's the mistake of the person who is expressing. S/he is conveying the wrong expressions and is not only deceiving the world but her/himself also. So what pleasure did Charlie Chaplin have in making others laugh while he burnt in misery from inside? Unfortunately today true emotions are condemned if they don't sync with the situation. People are expected to behave and emote as the surroundings are else it's considered to be abnormal. A man lives in an entirely different world inside than outside. I clearly don't understand as to how can one compare the emotions of one person with that of the other. Everyone has a different emotional quotient and reasons for being emotional. No two people can be expected to express and emote the same way for a similar kind of a situation just because one expects them to. If a person is emotional it doesn't mean that s/he has lost the logical understanding. No one needs to justify the emotions logically.

When the outer world which is not the 700crore plus population but just the seven of those close people fail to understand your trust or emotions or feelings or honesty, all the expressions of true emotion get curbed and all that remains is nothing but an expressionless expression - a silent smile which is better than a straight face to avoid further conflicts and conversations. If you haven't been through such situations please do let me know on is.mohanbn@gmail.com

No wonder you want what you want

We are stuck in this society which drives us crazy as often as possible. I am damn sure that you would have time and again faced the situations which are of not your choice. You desperately want something to happen and it always escapes away from you at just a hand distance. You can't let go off the desire of what you want. So once again you start running behind it. Leaving what you have and moving towards what you don't have is what is called as LIFE.

Each one of us is trying to structure out the unstructured web of thoughts and dreams in us. Each of us have a plan of how we should lead our lives. Each one of us have that amazing set of agendas on mind to execute. Unfortunately we get entangled in all other possible commitments before we even think of unwrapping the papers of dust covering our original ideas. Is it fear of not being able to execute all that we think that keeps us away from working on them or is it the immediate basic necessities of life that bind us from going away from working for them? As if it is not enough, upon these confusions come the conflict-solvers in the form of influences in our lives. Different people with different theories try to strategise our lives in the process of which we are completely lost in a complete new set of thoughts
which are once again influentially constructed. No wonder we enjoy them upto certain extent until the bug of idea caught in the web inside us starts screaching out.

This is the exact point where in you have crossed the 2 stages;
1 - I can't understand what's inside me and 2 - Even others can't understand what's inside me. That is when you learn that no one else apart from you can implement what you want and you go behind making it happen. That is when you realise that the last resort is you alone who can feel, realise, understand and implement what you want. That's why I say 'No wonder you want what you want'. So do let me know what you say on is.mohanbn@gmail.com

EXHIBITION

In an exhibition the connoisseur contended that all the paintings exhibited were of the 18th century. However some contentious people who were not ready to accept that argued about the statement made by him. When he realised that he had forgotten the presence of a recent painting he tried to apologise but his contrite apology was not accepted by these people. Further he explained about little conundrums hidden in some of the paintings to which the attention of all the people present ther converged onto. Though some could not understand the convoluted descriptions given by him, they tried to act as if they understood better than others. Some paintings based on war daunted small children. All the students however maintained decorum inside the hall by default as their teachers were watching them closely. The connoisseur showed his deference by answering all the questions of the students. Step by step he delineated the complete concept behind every painting. He avoided denigrating any painter even though there were some grave mistakes in some of the paintings. Some of the students who were deriding the fellow students who could not understand certain concepts were warned by their teachers to behave properly. Some of the paintings were mere derivatives of the lifestyle of people. Big leaves were desiccated and placed at the corners of the painting for the purpose of decoration. Some people who could not understand a bit of what the connoisseur was explaining walked around in desultory throwing diatribing remarks at him which were deterrant to the normal flow of the connoisseur. However those who were interested carried on to encourage him to explain more.
