Anarchy to Monarchy

Earlier to the arrival of different types of bureaucracies and government systems in this world the world was divided into kingdoms which were ruled by different individual leaders. The ruler could either be a king or a queen. Different names were attributed to this ruler in different parts of the world. Every ruler was succeeded by his/her heir to the throne. It used to be a family affair of who would rule the kingdom and it was considered as the right that’s received in the blood directly from the God. In fact, the Monarch was considered as equivalent to the God. Such provinces which had a single ruler called as a Monarch ruling his subjects were known to follow the monarchy system of governance. Democracy or communism was not heard of in those days. Irrespective of whether the Monarch was good or bad everything in the state happened as per his orders and regulations. He was solely responsible for keeping up the well-being of his society. In case of battles or wars or unexpected death of the Monarch the next heir used to take the throne to make sure that there is always an authority that is ruling over the kingdom. In case of those situations when there would be no heir to take the Monarch’s position and the existing Monarch was dead there aroused the situation of Anarchy. Anarchy is a state of disorder due to absence or non-recognition of authority or other controlling systems. As there was no single authority to take care of social harmony or justice evil people used to take advantage of such situations and loot the others. The neighbouring Monarchs saw this as the right time to launch their attack on the civilians and destroy the kingdom to conquer it. Absence of Monarchy used to give rise to such an Anarchy that would eventually destroy the existing civilization itself.

A leader is one who leads oneself and others just follow him. Running a kingdom or a state or a province or a country requires a leader to run it. If the leader is so mighty to be a Monarch to run an entire empire successfully well, then, definitely he must be planning and managing his time perfectly well in order to take care of every aspect of the kingdom really well. Not all of us might be such Monarchs to rule an entire state but each one of us is a Monarch of our own lives. We might not have the insurmountable responsibilities of running a big kingdom consisting of thousands of people and numerous challenges to deal with but each one of us have our own self to take care of. A Monarch might plan the expansion of his kingdom while each one of us needs to plan the growth of our education and career. A Monarch might plan projects to improve the lives of his subjects while we need to plan on how to increase our knowledge and wisdom and develop our skills and talents. A Monarch might plan on how to train his army to defend the country against external attacks and for launching war campaigns while we need to train ourselves both mentally and physically for self-defense and to face unexpected challenges. A Monarch might get busy planning the annual grand festival of his kingdom to entertain his people while each one of us also need to plan on how we would celebrate the special occasions of our lives.

With anarchy in place none of the above-mentioned things can happen in the kingdom. It’s a state of disorder where anything can happen and there is no one to stop the injustice caused to anyone. People suffer as they have no authority to go and seek help from. There is no punishment for criminals as there is no law and order system controller at all. Same shall become the case in our lives when we lose the authority over the time in our life. Losing authority over time means when we are unsure about what we are doing and its deadline. This is the state of Anarchy in our lives. You can find a lot of people around you living such lives. They are either moving through their work slowly or are spending away time as nothing is assigned to them or because they have finished their previous assignment. There are many such individuals who don’t plan what to do next. They just follow a routine of life of waking up in the morning, going to study place or work place because it has got fixed timings and passing time through the day with ongoing processes just waiting for the day to end and reach back their beds to sleep. Such people just wander through life as they don’t affix any goals for their lives. They have dreams but never make an action plan to achieve them within a prescribed time. Such people have differentiation between busy and free time. Their description of free time is the time when they don’t have any work. Only a person who hasn’t set high aspirations in life can get such free time. These are the facets of anarchy that result in a mediocre lifestyle which is not mediocre just in terms of money but mediocre in terms of zeal, happiness, fame, success and all other positive aspects of life.

If you have gone through or even felt any of the states spoken above then it’s time to make the shift from Anarchy to Monarchy. You have to bring back the ruler in you who shall decide the priorities of your life, plan your days, weeks, months and years, gather back your strengths and talents and make you work hard to achieve your goals and targets. Everyone has a Monarch inside them. The more respect you adore him with the better he shall plan and manage your time and help you lead a successful life. You should follow his orders once he has charted out the plan irrespective of what state of mind you’re in. If you disobey his plan he shall subside from his position automatically and Anarchy sets in your life and we better know the sad state of Anarchy in our lives. You become what you plan to become. You can plan voluntarily when you give the reigns of your life in the hands of the Monarch inside you else the environment around you has the capacity to make you feel that you are right by going as per the plan set by it which might not be what you want in your life. If you plan your next one year of life with complete clarity then you are on your way to achieve what you have planned in a year of time. If you have planned the next one month then you know what you are set on for next month. If you have planned next one week then you’re clear about what to do in next 7 days. If you have at least planned for next one day then the Monarch is alive in you for next 24 hours to make sure that you use those hours rightly well. Your plan-span determines the lifespan of the Monarch in you. The kingdom is in under proper governance as long as the Monarch is on the throne. Likewise your life is under your control as long as you know what to do next in the prescribed amount of time. So, plan your time in your life so well that Anarchy shall never surface and Monarchy shall always rule your life towards glory.

Do you have a plan for tomorrow?

I have heard that big businessmen and people at high powerful positions have meetings lined up the entire day. They hardly find time to spend with their family also. Their schedules are packed days, weeks, months and sometimes years together. I used to always wonder as to how well they could exactly fix their future timings. Many of us are in a state of just thinking of what to do now many a times whereas these busy people hardly find time to ask 'What to do now?' because that has been planned way back in their past.

I definitely do not intend to scare you that if you reach such top positions, your life will become miserable but it makes me learn as to how much these people value and respect their time. How many of us actually do the same? Seeing my academic achievements when people think that I should have been studying all the time, I just laugh at myself when I recollect all those times of mighty hours that I had just wasted away. I do feel guilty of them now. I don't know if we really have piled up work and responsibility that can keep us busy for all the tomorrows but I am damn sure that we can fill the tomorrow's time with sufficient activities that shall help us grow. We miss out on tomorrow's time the main reason being we don't invest just five minutes of today to plan and schedule our tomorrow. If you can plan every hour of your tomorrow then you will never have a regret of having wasted time.

Most of us depend on the plans that others make for us which is by far only in the favour of those who planned. It's just our laziness that we depend on such plans and when the real planner alters the plan we are left with a bunch of minutes which we silently kill away by scolding the person who changed the plan. Remember friends! your tomorrow must be planned by you at any cost else you will be at the receiving end of your own anger tomorrow night like tonight for killing your own time. Twelve sets to utilize

Time! Time! Time! It goes away tick! tick! tick! No one can stop it, no one can hold it. It runs at the brisk pace that it has always run with. The only choice we have is to run with it. Whether you are sitting or standing or running or thinking the time is continuously running and maintains the same dimensions and moods all the time. Time is not a thing, its a dimension by itself. It is eternal and immortal. Though time is in the same state always, we are never in the same state. That's the simple reason why we always lag behind time and only very few exceptional people are ahead of time.

Just think of yourself when you are writing your exam in those critical three hours, just imagine yourself when you're watching the movie for couple of hours, just flashback when you slept for 8 hours, just go back when you're eating for an hour. In each case of these, you were using the same time for different purposes. Many times when people ask me about time-management or insufficient time to complete all the work I advise them on better planning and prioritizing. No wonder who-so-ever you ask will reply the same! I used to believe that each and every next minute, next hour needs to be planned and you need to be aware about what you will do the next minute. I still believe in this philosophy. Then I came up with one more method of planning which I feel can work out with many in a very easy manner. The idea which I want to represent to you all is the 'Twelve sets to utilize'.

Everyday has 24 hours. Its quite difficult to plan what you will be doing for entire next 24 hours and keep it in mind. Infact making a note of it also might not work out. Hence lets divide each day into twelve sets of 2 hours each. 2 hours is neither so big that you can't remember what you plan to utilize it for nor too small that you keep planning and deciding all time as to what to do next. All of us have been through the experience of restlessness during the last hour of a 3-hour movie or a 3-hour exam. Hence I recommend a set of just 2 hours that you dedicate to any particular work. This makes planning easier and simpler. In a day we can dedicate 3 to 4 sets for sleep/rest. The remaining 9 to 8 sets are in our conscious hold to utilize. If you're a student who comes back from school/college in the evening you have atlest 2-3 sets before the day ends which you can plan for 3 different activities. Also in today's trafficbusy world just to travel to a nearby place and comeback takes an hour. So you can add an extra hour to it to complete your work in the place where you travelled to as well. This assigns a set for this activity. Also 2 hours sounds and is reasonable enough to keep our efficiency and interest high enough in the particular task be it games or studies or travel or shopping or partying or any other kind of entertainment that we are involved in.

Use this method to plan your work and priorities well. I found it considerable to have a set of two hours assigned to any particular work. Its upto you to modify this logic and vary the number of hours per set. I leave this flexibility of the method upto my dear reader. But please make sure that you write back to me about the implications of the implementation of this method on is.mohanbn@gmail.com

Walk Jog Run Sprint Bolt

This was a quote on a T-shirt that I observed in the gym. Initially at the first reading I couldn't understand it then I realised that these were the measures of our pace of movement and in that category Usain Bolt had achieved so much that his name was also included in the measuring scale metrics. For the benefit of my dear reader I would like to let you know that Usain Bolt has been one of the fastest men on this earth winning many competitions in running sports. You normally jog faster than you walk, you run faster than you jog, you sprint faster than you run and if you are ahead of the speed of sprint then you are in the Bolt category. This is what the title symbolizes.

While thinking about this topic I just saw around how lethargic the world was. People are walking slowly, someone is sipping the coffee at the rate of 20 seconds per sip, some are working so patiently that the work itself would get bored to be completed. Just observe the scene around you friends. You can see how slow things are moving. The construction projects taken up by government take years to get complete, the plans set up for development of the common man take ages to get implemented and so on and so forth. Infact when I observe myself when there is no pressure I just take all the time in the world to finish the task. Have you been through those fabulous experiences of having delicious lunch for more than an hour? If you can just collect all these scenes in your mind together and press the fast forward button you can watch how funny it would be. No wonder on the other hand that the tasks would get over so soon that you would have enough time left to rejoice other things of life. I agree that there are certain moments that we must savour with the highest patience and time but for all other things I think having pace is a good advantage.

Just remember friends, that we we don't have time for eternal with us. All of us have limited amount of time vested into our life by the Almighty. How much we make use of it is what counts at the end of the life. Every second that you give extra to a task is your denial of that extra second to another task. If you can walk a bit faster to save few seconds, if you can read a bit faster to save few minutes, if you can work a bit faster to save few hours, if you can think to plan a bit faster to save few days probably you would end up saving few extra years of your life which can be invested in a lot of other productive activities. Your time starts now!
