Another dream to share

Bodybuilding has been one of my prime areas of focus. I have even written a blog about how self-defence needs to be taught at school level itself. Combining these two fired up one more thought which became one more dream of mine which I want to share with my dear audience today. Today was filled with thoughts and discussions about dreams and hence I am continuing the same tonight.

I have searched for bodybuilding tips on internet and have often found most of the websites featuring bodybuilders from different countries other than my own country ie., India. Hence I used to have a dream that I should help Indian bodybuilders to get websites and market themselves and their ideas using the online medium. Probably the same is true in other countries where computer education is a little low. Since physical fitness is very important for a healthy lifestyle, everyone needs to get into physical training. To serve so many customers, obviously there need to be good number of trainers at least in the ratio of 20 customers: 1 trainer. All the people should have access to their trainers websites and gyms for their physical training. To accommodate every single citizen in gyms, there should be a lot of gyms, probably at the rate of every street having a gym. I even read that Arnold Schwarzenegger had once dreamt that there would be more gyms than supermarkets in USA. His dream motivated me as it clearly synced with that of mine.

Once there are enough number of gyms such that everyone gets physical training, people become stronger. Most of the parents don't enroll their kids into martial arts or any other self-defence classes because of the fear of their kids getting hurt. Once every kid is strong with daily work-out at the gym and play, even parents shall have more confidence and less fear in enrolling their children for self-defence classes. Eventually our coming generations shall become physically strong and the entire population shall be so strong that there cannot be any physical assault by bullies on anyone since everyone knows how to defend themselves and help others in trouble. This shall lead to an empowered nation is what my mind imagines and believes in. Please feel free to share your feedback on is.mohanbn@gmail.com

61st National Level Bodybuilding Championship

On March 16th, 2013, a grand function was unveiled in the coastal district of Karnataka, Udupi. It was the 61st National Level Bodybuilding Championship conducted by Indian Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation supported by Manjunath Hegde Sports Foundation hosted in Shamili Convention Centre situated on the National Highway in Udupi. The prelims for the competition were conducted on 15th of March itself. On 16th, the stage was set to witness the best bodybuilders from all across the country.

The real competition commenced at around 11 am in the morning. Even Doordarshan's DD sports was present to cover the entire event for the television medium along with the press media. Initially the first title to be contested was for 'Bharath Kesari' where in bodybuilders above the age of 40 contested. There were bodybuilders from Karnataka, Maharashtra, Manipur, Jharkhand, Chatthisgarh and other places who competed in this event. It was shocking to see people above the age of 50 who had maintained hardcore physique. Then it was the turn of 'Bharath Uday' title to be contested for. Different groups were made based on the height of the bodybuilders as short, medium, tall and super-tall groups. So minimum of 4 groups existed for each title contest. Among each of these groups 5 places were given from 1st to 5th and the gold-medal winner i.e, the first place winner would be selected for the final round. Like this, four 1st place winners among the four groups were selected and made to contest in the second round. Out of these four, finally one winner was selected and awarded the title. 'Bharath Uday' title is contested by freshers who enter the bodybuilding competition for the first time. (I don't remember the exact names and places of the bodybuilders who won these competitions, so kindly pardon me for the same).

The next title to be contest for was 'Bharath Kishore' which is once again for younger bodybuilders. People of the age 20-25 participated in Bharath Uday and Bharath Kishore titles competition and it was surprising to see the muscles that these young chaps had developed. I could really see the years of hardwork and perseverance that had gone behind such sculpture out of natural muscles. By this time, entered the chief guests for the day namely, worshipful Swamiji from Udupi, Superintendent of Police of Udupi and the famous film director of kannada film industry, Dr. Rajendra Singh Babu. They inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp and shared their appreciation for Manjunath Hegde who had hosted this show in memory of his brother Late. T. R. Chandrashekar Hegde who was a national champion in bodybuilding.

The last two titles to be contested for were 'Bharath Kumar' and 'Bharath Shree' where in 'Bharath Shree' is considered to be the most prestigious award of the entire event. Once again senior bodybuilders from all across the country displayed their cut-to-perfection muscular bodies. The audience roared the names of their heroes as the bodybuilders took the stage for the show-off. They flaunted their biceps, triceps, wide back, 6-8 pack abdomen, marvellous thighs, lemon-like calf muscles, vast chests, wing-like lats with the music adding more energy into the show. Finally, by 10 pm both these titles were given away to the winners. Exclusive cash prizes were presented to the title winners along with a victory cup to carry to their homes and homelands. National and international referees also presided over the event. Mr. Balnaidu, the general secretary of IFBF along with other Vice-Presidents made sure that the competition was conducted to the best standards possible and there were no hiccups throughout. Overall, it was an inspiring as well as an enjoyable experience to be a part of this competition for me.

Looking forward to host and conduct more such bodybuilding competitions in coming future.......

Food habits

I have heard it from many people that we are what we eat. Food is one of the most important basic necessities of man. Today millions of people around the globe are unable to reach out to this basic necessity of life and many are dying due to the lack of the same. Food is a saviour of our lives but unfortunately today it's disgusting to see that food is becoming responsible for different kinds of disorders in people and eventually affecting their health and life.

The reason that the sacred food is seeming to be disastrous to lives of people is because of the bad food habits that many of us are carrying. Obesity and diabetes have become so rampant with many people today because of their dirty food habits and even due to lack of physical exercise habits. It's a sad scene to see that people are replacing simple, pure and clean drinking water with aerated drinks for drinking purposes. Fried items with heavy oil content have become the trend in the fast food restaurants. There is no intake of balanced food by majority of the people. High calorie content in the food is leading to every other type of disorder in people today. Cleaning of vegetables and fruits is taking away most of the nutrients along with all the pesticides sprayed on them and as a result there is not much nutritional value added to what we intake nowadays.

Hrithik Roshan, a very famous Bollywood actor said in an interview that when he wanted to get back in shape for his movie Krissh3, he googled out to find the best trainer and that trainer taught him about the best diet that is tasty as well as fulfilling and equally best for health during the bodybuilding routine. There are so many bodybuilders in India itself who could have trained Hrithik Roshan because bodybuilding is the field that teaches you the best regarding physical health by instructing on proper food habits, sleep and exercises. It's my vision to help lot of bodybuilders to reach out to every person in our surroundings and guide them towards good health and hence have a healthy nation. Partner

One more strong reinforcement happened yet again during the bodybuilding time in the gym today. The importance of a trainer or a training partner with you during your work or workout is a great asset that you shouldn't miss out on. Probably a team member is quite different from a partner. In a team the tasks are generally divided and different members execute different tasks to accomplish a common goal but a partner is one who will do the same work with you. Especially in bodybuilding the importance of a training partner cannot be overseen. A simple example to state how powerful and important the word 'partner' is that of a marriage wherein the couple are called as partners because they will be sharing every act of life. Business partners is a more closer set than business associates.

While I was working out today, halfway through the workout I started feeling like almost I had lost all my energy. My palms and fingers couldn't hold the dumbles or barbells for long. I felt as if I couldn't complete even my regular number of repetitions. At this exact time came my trainer whom I would like to refer here as partner because a trainer is one who trains you on how to perform certain activity and you're left to practise on your own but a partner is one who will join hands with you in the work. My trainer provided the right support throughout my second half of the workout for bisceps and helped me complete the workout. This last point is the most important. A trainer might just train you and will teach you how to learn from failures and succeed but only a partner will make sure to support your lack of strength and help you accomplish the work within the right time. That's why I regard a partner different from a trainer. No doubt that a trainer's role is also very important on which I don't have any doubts but I want to stress here the importance of having a partner in your work to just make sure that both of you complement each other whenever one falls short of strength and make sure that the work is completed within the given time.

Perhaps it may not be possible to have a partner always in all our work but if there is a chance to have a partner then don't miss him/her. Some of them have this opinion that they need to do everything on their own single-handed and do not want to rely on anyone else. This learning is also very important. Make sure that you learn to do everything by yourself but it may not be same situation always. Certain times demand help and at that time don't have any ego to take the support from a partner because the completion of work within the given time is always a higher priority.

A new feeling to share tomorrow. Till then love you all, please share your love on is.mohanbn@gmail.com

Refocus Reorient Resurge

Focus, orientation and the surge towards your goals, dreams and ambitions are what make them come into reality. In front of the random situations that come before us and block our path we humans are too weak sometimes to fight against the odds. All the goals and dreams fade away under the shadow of the confusion eating our mental energy. Knowing that we have to do our regular work we miss it in the thought of finding the right solution for the question running in the mind. Atleast if the issue resolves on a positive note, you can be happy to get back to your work but when the issue tears your soul apart and breaks you down completely it is just damn difficult to get out of it. But remember friends, one who fights this fight of resurgence is the one who comes back stronger. I remember the incident in the life of the bodybuilding idol Arnold Shwarzenegger when he was in love with a girl and when he wanted to go to America to enter Hollywood, she was not willing to accompany him. Arnold describes in his book 'The Education of a bodybuilder' that at that point of time he was completely torn between love and his ambitions. Though Arnold spent sometime crying over the issue he had to finally decide to refocus, reorient and resurge towards his goals in life and he did the same. As a result of this comeback power he went on to conquer not just the hollywood but the hearts of millions of Americans. Likewise even I faced certain challenges of similar kind which just pulled me out of my regular workouts. Its been almost four days since I went to gym. Really disappointed with myself in this regard. Thanks to my mentor who helped me to overcome the tough situation with his wisdom-filled lessons. It was hard to accept the truth but there was no other way. A strangling feeling deepened inside but time always has the solutions. As time passed I could gather myself up back and once again refocus, reorient and resurge towards my dreams.

Folks! time and again distractions, problems, confusions etc might just put you to a halt and trouble your mind and soul. Just remember one thing that time will pass. Good and bad times shall prevail for sometime always. Life is itself designed in such a pattern of highs and lows. When the problem is eating up your mental and emotional energies probably you won't be able to cater to your physical self also. You might just get lost in the distress that the problem induces. No matter how much ever wishful we are to win over the problem, sometimes the fate takes the winning side and we can do nothing about it. Just believe that God has planned it all. Just keep the belief in yourself that something better is going to come. Don't stop your action at any cost. Refocus on your priorities, reorient your actions towards working towards them, resurge like a tsunami once again with full zeal and energy to conquer the world. Even Robin Sharma states that sometimes we go offtrack only to come back ontrack. Recognise back all your strengths, remotivate yourself, get reinspired from your inspirational sources, reread your goals and dreams, become like a reborn phoenix and start flying again. The world doesn't end with any of our woes. No one ever will stop their life for the sake of your difficulty. You will be the one who will be responsible to either die in depression of the defeat or bounce back from the failure putting all your energised efforts to accomplish your dreams and visions. Ultimately the choice is YOURS alone.

My dear friends! its been a really tough task in last four days to get over the challenge. It was hard indeed and literally tough to get over the consequences of disappointment. I would advise my dear reader to make sure that you share your set of issues with someone whom you have trust in and learn the next steps to be taken which I did. The life is long enough wherein we will definitely meet a lot of new people and we are bound to find the right ones for us to be surrounded with. Shed the tears of emotions while increasing the longevity of smile on your face continuously which helped me get stronger. I am going to gym tomorrow morning for sure to restart my bodybuilding. Willing to know if you have had any such experiences on is.mohanbn@gmail.com

Tribute to the LIKER of HITLER

Arnold Schwarzenegger has been one of the few inspirations who has proved that hardwork and clear ambitions can take a human to climb the ladders of success one after the other. From being a soccer player in a school team in Austria he went on to become the 38th governor of California state. He has played different roles of life like bodybuilder, actor, businessman, investor, politician etc.

Arnold known as "The Austrian Oak" during his bodybuilding days was inspired seeing photos of bodybuilders in magazines. He was a guy who wanted recognition which he couldnt find in team sports. As a result of which he made a shift to individual sport, bodybuilding. He got addicted to it and went on to become Mr.Universe at a very young age of just 20. This required lot of hardwork, patience, discipline, perseverence all of which were rendered by Arnold to the sport with complete dedication. Arnold has lost only 3 times in his bodybuilding career but all the 3 times he was awarded the 2nd prize. He learnt lessons from each of these defeats against Chet Yorton, Frank Zane and Sergio Olivia and created a track record of 7 times Mr.Olympia title winner.

After proving that he was best in bodybuilding he entered Hollywood. He initially acted in action-oriented roles but later expanded his acting skills even into comedy genre. Indeed it was a tough time for him to learn english and speak fluently being an Austrian but the name is Arnold, synonym of GROWTH. He impressed his audience and even established the superstar status in movies. Then in the later part of his career he jumped into politics only to give back to the society what it had given him during his earlier days. He also expanded his horizons in business and investment and no doubt that he has been quite successful in them too.

Initially, he was influenced by bodybuilding but later he became an inspiration for bodybuilding field itself and has proven the time paradigm shift of inspiration. He conducts Arnold Expo every year comprising of competitions of all sorts of sports to encourage sportsmen/women all over the world. The good news is that shortly Arnold Shwarzenegger would be in Mumbai, India participating in the bodybuilding competition for Mr.India.

Arnold always wanted to become someone like Hitler or Jesus with the power to influence masses and be an extraordinary personality in the world and the history is the proof that he has accomplised it. One simple yet big lesson from the life of Arnold is "GROWTH".
