Modes of knowledge transfer

In earlier days when the Gurukul system of education existed in India, children from the kingdom used to go to a forest area where a school was established by a Guru (Teacher). This school was called as 'Gurukul' in Sanskrit. The children used to reside in this place for a decade to learn from the Guru. Among such students, there would be a group of students who learnt when taught only once. There was another group which learnt when taught twice and there was another group which learnt when taught thrice. Based on the number of repetitions a student would take to learn a lesson, there were different groups of students made and the lessons were taught accordingly. Learning was the same but the method was different for different sets of students.

In the current world, there are people with different abilities. Some need to be taught by teaching directly with words. Some need to be taught by exposing to practical exposure. Some can be taught by just speaking over phone. Some can be taught through online video tutorials. Some can be taught by asking them to perform certain tasks. The modes of learning differ from one person to the other. It becomes very important for the mentor/ teacher/ trainer to choose the right mode for the right student. I do accept that it's not easy for someone to spot the right methodology for every student instantly. One has to try every available method to find out which method exactly works for the students. The quickness in choosing the right method shall be achieved as one garners more and more experience. This option of choosing the right method doesn't apply only for the person who is sharing lessons. It applies to the student also who is learning the lessons. It's the individual's responsibility to work and find out which type of learning works right for him/her. Once again the method which sounded right some days back might not sound apt some days later. So, one should be ready to change and adapt to new modes of learning as time moves on. Different information demand different modes to reach a person. So, one should be ready to explore different streams to embody different kinds of information.

While one is battling through different modes of knowledge transfer to choose the right one, a student or a teacher might get into conflict while choosing the right method. A method which looks lucrative might not be practically implementable for a certain student. But the feelings attached cannot be erased until the wrong implementation is proved. So people must be ready to face bitter consequences too while exploring and experimenting with different modes of learning and teaching. At the end of the day, what's important is, learning the lesson. If the right lessons aren't passed between the mentor and the mentee then not just one person is at fault, it's the relation which is at fault by default.

God has planned it all

For those believers in God I need not go into deep description of this title of the blog but for those people who don't believe in God, I hope atleast you believe in energy defined by science. Energy that we can't see that has set the structure of evolution of the universe. There is this universal energy responsible for the planets to go around stars, the energy which is responsible for life to exist on this planet earth and so on. There is a systematic process set rolling involving so many non-systematic incidents. I am sure you have atleast heard of how the earth balances the life population. So behind all these happenings there is some master energy and some master plan against which we humans are too tiny to challenge and fight. This master supreme energy is what I bleieve as God. When you plan you might fail or succeed but you can just be sure that whatever happens will result in good for you if you believe that it was planned by God to make good happen for you.

In my childhood when my grandmother used to say that everything is already planned in the drama that God has written and that's why the past incidents have happened the way they have happened, I used to argue with her that there's no drama and if there is one it should tell us the future. I was so stupid that I didn't understand that it required wisdom to read the drama not just a question. When I turn back and see the past incidents of my life, I just realise how well the dots were placed and connected by God to help me reach the position I have reached now. Might be it will be too small of me to analyse everything of it by logic though I can do it. I just feel satisfied and blessed that God planned it so well for me. When I extend this thought to the world I can clearly see that inspite of so many efforts by man to systematize the running of life, God keeps surprising him with new things, fooling him with randomness and exciting the game even more day by day. If you are standing with the ego of the self that things will happen only as you want them to, you are just spoiling your time with disappointment. I am not trying to say here that one shouldn't put his efforts in doing things. That is the utmost necessity because God has planned it so well that if one person has no reason to do a certain thing some other person has million reasons to accomplish the same because God has planned a dynamic drama not a static one.

At the end of the above conversation what I would like to convey to you my friend is that we are in this world to play our roles. Circumstances and situations will keep changing. Some might favour us while some might deceive us completely. Just keep a hope and belief in the eternal energy which I refer to as God that everything has been planned to happen only for the good of you. Don't jump into conclusions anywhere about how things happen because God always loves to surprise you. Keep learning through the game of life, explore and most important of all enjoy it. Afterall at the end of the day we know the truth that birth, death and change are the only three constant things on this earth and the time in between birth and death is meant to be lived with utmost life in it.

I would love to read your perceptions of God and life. You can write to me on is.mohanbn@gmail.com

HARD to change but NECESSARY

"Change is the only constant thing on this earth". I feel there is no argument about this statement. Its not only valid for the earth but valid for our lives too. Yesterday I blogged that we need to learn from pain. Today we will see the next step which is nothing but implementing the lesson. Lesson once learnt but not implemented is equivalent to unlearning it. In the constantly changing world when we have 'n' number of priorities, it becomes increasingly tough to decided what actions to perform at what time. A definite plan is necessary so that the output of our actions are at the optimum level. Let's see going forward about the need for change in our life.

I used to generally come home from office by 9:30pm and do my blogging. Due to this I would have to go to sleep a bit late. I also had to go to gym in the early morning at 5:30am. Since I was going to bed late, I couldn't complete the 8 hours of sleep suggested for those who workout daily. On the other hand due to this I have missed going to gym few days. That is when it got me thinking as to what I need to do in order to be regular to the gym. The simple answer was to sleep early. But if I do that I wouldn't be able to blog, which I couldn't accept because ABAD{A Blog A Day} is a commitment. When both these priorities came at the same time the only thing that could be done was CHANGE my routine. I had to change the time I blog so that I can go early to bed. That is the reason I am writing this blog at 7:15pm itself today. Whenever you feel that you'ren't able to do all the things that you wish to do then the only answer is CHANGE. It might be hard to change, you might not see any possible way or reordering things but you can't help it if it's necessary, you'll have to change. You'll have to break the old pattern and introduce a new pattern in your daily schedule. Only then you'll be able to accomplish all the things that you wish to do.

Unfortunately people are much aversed to the thought of change. If you ask the working people if they can change their schedule, the first expression will be of that wide eyebrows. We have tuned our mind to do the same things that we are doing day in and day out. It seems difficult to introduce a new methodology. This is the time you should erase the program and think of the goals to be achieved and change your routine accordingly. If the world followed the same style of lighting fire from rubbing stones we wouldn't have seen lighters today. If the old-fachioned style of dressing with leaves was followed still we wouldn't have been so fashionable today. Everything has to undergo a change as per requirement. Just taking a decision to change is not enough. Succeeding the decision, there must be immediate action taken to implement the change required which is what I am doing with my blog for today.

I hope your will break your old pattern of just reading the blog without commenting for today and respond with your opinions on the topic of CHANGE on is.mohanbn@gmail.com
