A dream to share

As I keep writing blogs one after the other day by day, I need to ask myself as to what new have I learned today. I need to think through different diverse experiences that I have gone through till night and then pen down my most important lesson for the day. Since I have crossed more than 400 blogs now, I thought of sharing a dream of mine with my beloved readers, my true motivators.

 

Recently, I was searching for some content on 'self-evaluation' on google. I searched for more than fifteen minutes but couldn't find any valuable material. As the Japanese saying says, "when no one else has done it then you must do it", I took up the task of writing a blog on self-evaluation to present myself and for others who might search for the same. At that time, I just recalled about how many friends of mine and mentees had appreciated my blogs. They had even shared that they had learned many lessons from my blogs. Even in the blog statistics I have found that when people search on certain topics, they have landed on my blog. A lot of people search for different lessons on life skills on internet. Since I write most of my blogs on life skills, I dreamt that whenever a person wants to learn about a topic related to life skills like self-development or understanding the perceptions of the world, s/he should just type the topic '+ MohanBN blog' and find the answer to his/her query in my blog.

 

I know there's a lot of work that needs to go behind making this dream materialise into reality. I know that I need to study and learn a lot to post quality content that is completely helpful for anyone who lands on my blog. I am completely aware that I need to cover a number of topics to match with the uncountable number of queries that people can come up with in order to fulfill my dream. Knowing all these challenges, I know one more thing and that is, I shall be blogging every single day and shall take up new topics everyday. More than all, I have loving readers like you who shall support me in accomplishing this dream at the earliest. Hence I wanted to share this dream of mine with you. Line by Line

Due to bad food in the evening today, I had a kind of bad feeling in my gut because of which I couldn't even workout in the gym in the late evening. So, came back home after some 10 minutes of cardio and saw my brother and cousin playing carrom. After a long time even I felt like getting my fingers tested at carrom and joined the game. Glad that the opponents were far less experienced compared to my gap in practice, I won both the games that we played. After the game, I went along with my cousin to drop her to her home and on the way was enquiring about her studies. She mentioned something like 'I don't understand certain stuff while I study'. This dragged my attention and I offered to clarify some of her confusions.

 

As we entered my cousin's house, she took out her Physics text book and opened a random chapter which had escaped her understanding. We started reading this new chapter. We took up the first paragraph of introduction and I read a line and asked her to repeat and then explain it to me in simple words in her mother tongue. I could find that it was difficult for my cousin to understand even the first paragraph of introduction of a chapter. Only when we read it line by line and I made her translate each line into her mother tongue and explain it to me was she able to get the meaning and complete understanding of the entire paragraph. All the time before when she had studied these chapters, she had missed this line by line approach. She had tried to scan through the paragraph and understand the concept which always deceived her understanding. Once I taught her this simple algorithm of understanding line by line which required more time and patience she could appreciate its simplicity because no more understanding could evade from her.

 

Not just studies, be it anything in life each one of them expects detail level attention for deeper and better understanding. Every situation demands momentwise reading to understand the depth of it. Every relationship requires understanding of every emotion of the people to foster better relationship. Recently I read a statement which read 'God lies in the details' which is absolutely true. Let me give an example

You would have heard this phrase a million times till now. To explain any particular concept, everyone tends to use an example to assist the authenticity of their concept. We see that examples exist even in our text books to prove the theory mentioned previously. Each one's life is an example to someone else. My only question is, how many times do we actually give or get the right examples?

 

First of all, let's see what is the necessity of giving an example. Whenever something explained to us, we may not understand it to an extent to which it has been explained. Let me give an example for this. When someone says that s/he has headache, you/I might just understand the existence of pain but we will not be able to understand the extent of the pain. When the same person gives an example that he is feeling the pain which happens when someone is hammering your head continuously, immediately we understand that the amount of pain is too much to sustain. Examples emphasize the depth of the concepts and situations. They help in better understanding and learning. Examples work as similes. Our brain can remember things by correlation. Hence every concept associated with an example is easy to remember and reproduce.

 

However, giving example is also a skill is what I believe. Unrelated examples completely take away the integrity of our understanding itself. One can give more examples only if one has read a lot, travelled a lot, met a lot of people and experienced a lot. Only when you can explain a simple concept by giving multiple examples do you become a great teacher and can spread your knowledge to a large mass of audience. Decipher the discussion

Decipher means to read or interpret. We keep talking day in and day out with ourselves and others. Which are those times we actually discuss? Few instances in a day wherein we discuss on different topics hold some concrete data however stupid the topic of discussion might be. How many discussions do we remember point to point depends on how deep the discussion touched our intellect. We keep conversing with our friends everytime we meet or call or chat. But there are special occasions where some really serious discussions happen. These discussions actually help in resulting in a better understanding of each other involved in the discussion. Probably lot of insight would have gone in the discussion itself on the topic but later once you are home you can go back to decipher the discussion to learn more from it. This is the experience that I want to share with my dear readers today.

Today, I had a fabulous discussion with one of my best friends whom I know from almost 3 years now. I have had many discussions with him on different topics but today's discussion was something special. Until now most of the topics used to be just plain exchange of opinions or factual matters but today's discussion was about a new venture that we would be coming up with. We had a mild discussion about the same about a week back and had come to decisions of the ways of its execution. I feel this earlier discussion was just a preface to what happened today. Today we were able to criticize our own approach which we had planned around a week back. We were able to modulate a new way to project our venture. We had points and reasons tossing between each other on the table. Then both of us gave our thoughts about them based on our experience. I am more of a guy having a background of addressing masses as an inspirational speaker. My friend is an ace tech-expert who knows the technology and its applications to the best detailed level possible. When both of us sat down to discuss as to how we make the technological applications meet the masses, it was a wonderful travel time for almost 3 hours. I understood more about how technology is perceived among common men and among the people in industry. I shared my thoughts on how this point needs to be communicated with the general public to have the maximum impact.

By the end of our discussion we could formulate key points and almost an agenda-like document for the new venture that we would be coming up with. This was such a fruitful learning for us itself that we were able to clearly put down our thoughts into an organised form of words. Even after I came home the points on which we discussed upon are roaming  in my mind and I can clearly see a rise in perception level in myself and my friend. Hoping to have more such discussions to learn more and grow more.
